We discovered Bistro' al 40 by chance while walking near our accommodation close to the Vatican, and it turned out to be a real hidden gem. The food feels like true nonna cooking: simple, authentic, and full of flavor. We loved it so much that we came back again the very next day. Prices are very affordable, and the staff are incredibly kind and welcoming. A wonderful, genuine Roman experience. Highly recommended!

Awesome spot. Food was delicious and hit the spot after a long day on our feet. We ordered the Carbonara, the Amatriciano and finished with some homemade tiramisu. The service was great too. Our server was friendly and helpful - he even offered to provide us a list of places to visit in the historic part of Rome, with a path and sequence to visit them. That personal touch was just above and beyond!

The food was really nice and tasty ;-)) We had various pizzas, spaghetti alle vongole, allegro salad - everything was perfect, as well as tiramisu and fantastic coffees. The service was also very friendly and natural. Unfortunately, no pictures of food as my phone was on charge ;-)) (They did charge all of our phones ;-)) with smiles) We were group of 10 and they managed to bring our food nearly at the same time ;-)) We would definitely come back again and recommend

A great, hospitable and cosy place to have a nice meal with no rush, a great experience for real Italian food. Definitely recommend... If you ever near the Vatican area you should try it.
